Crab Cake Recipe

Crab cake recipe belongs exclusively to the American cuisine. Traditional crab cake recipe includes blue crabmeat, bread crumbs, milk, eggs and onion. Meat from other species of crab and various ingredients may also be added. There is a variety of recipes with different ingredients and types of preparation (sauteed, baked or grilled). Crab cakes also vary in size. They can be as small as a cookie or as large as a hamburger. Crab cakes are served with sauce, mustard, ketchup and sprinkled lime or lemon juice. Crab Cake Recipe

SAUTEED

Diversity of ingredients and its proper combination makes the taste of crab cakes rich and refined.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. lump crabmeat
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ stick butter
  • ½ chopped shallots
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. sweet paprika
  • ½ tsp. ground black pepper
  • 4 tsp. tartar sauce
  • 1tsp. lemon zest
  • 4 tsp. chopped parsley
  • 4 slices white bread without crusts
  •  1 cup bread crumbs

Method

  1. Preheat butter in a bowl over medium heat.
  2. Add shallots, salt and stew for a few minutes. Then, let it cool.
  3. Whisk together eggs, tartar and Worcestershire sauces, pepper, paprika, lemon zest, parsley and stewed shallots.
  4. Chop crabmeat and torn bread. Gently mix it with the beforehand prepared mass.
  5. Take a tablespoon of mixture and form it into a small cookie.
  6. Roll all the cakes in bread crumbs.
  7. Put the cakes on the tray and let them chill in the refrigerator for an hour.
  8. Preheat the remaining butter in medium high heat.
  9. Place crab cakes in the skillet.
  10. Cook for about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  11. Serve with salad or rice.

Crab Cake Recipe

BAKED

Baked crab cakes are not only a daily dish. This dish will definitely decorate your festive table.

Ingredients:

  • ½ lb crabmeat
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ stick butter
  • ½ tbsp. mustard
  • ½ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp. seafood seasoning
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 cup of white bread crumbs

Method

  1. Chop green onion.
  2. Whisk the egg; add ½ cup bread crumbs, green onion, seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, melted butter and chopped crabmeat.
  3. Shape small cakes and roll them in the remaining bread crumbs.
  4. Put crab cakes on the foil covered and oil greased baking pan.
  5. Place the baking pan with cakes in the refrigerator for at least half an hour.
  6. Bake cakes at 150°F for half an hour until golden brown.
  7. Serve with avocado dressing (mashed avocado, lemon juice, salt, pepper)

GRILLED

Crab cakes on grill retain all nutritional properties of crabmeat. As a result, it is a healthy and nourishing meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can drained crabmeat
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2 gloves garlic, finely minced
  • 4 tbsp. sour cream
  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper

Method

  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Form crab mixture in small patties.
  3. Chill crab cakes before grilling.
  4. Preheat grill and place cakes on oiled grate.
  5. Cook for 5 minutes on each side.
  6. Serve with a cold sauce of sour cream or yogurt.
